I don't know whether it's because I've become increasingly paranoid or if I've had some sort of hormonal change over the past 4 years (no, not THAT change, I'm 22!) but excess hair has started to really interfere with my life (think pants, stockings...any kind of leg coverage in any kind of heat).
It wasn't just the prickly hair itself, I would also get ugly ingrowns and the occasional boil that required a trip to the doctor and antibiotics, not to mention the scars left behind due to my easy tan/easy dark hard to fade scarring skin.
I had thought about laser hair removal for a really long time, googled prices and dreamt of the day that private health insurance would help me out since, hey, it was kind of medical (the boils! the antibiotics!).
It was just by chance that I heard about Professional Laser Clinic in North Strathfield. Two of my high school friends raved about it on a chance meeting as they were taking advantage of the $55 underarm and brazillian package. Based on all my past googling $55 for those treatments sounded like a pretty good deal and using those prices as a benchmark I had hope...
My main concern was the bottom half of my legs where the hair was coarse and dark. I wasn't too concerned about thighs as the hair was much less noticeable and ingrowns were few and far between. I was also paranoid about excess hair on my face i.e. upper lip, chin and side face. The girl who answered the phone was really nice and gave me a few prices (full leg, half leg etc.) and I made a booking during that first phone call.
My first visit went well, I didn't end up getting the face done because it turned out that a lot of the hair existed only in my mind. Hmpf. The pain was bearable and you can semi see results straight away because they laser zaps the visible hair away. Nice. For the few weeks after the first zappin' I had what looked like stubble. It took ages for the majority to 'fall' out (Ok, for me to pull it out with my fingernails) and I still had a few pepper spots when I went in for my next treatment. I told the lady treating me and she said it does take longer for coarser hair.
Oh but did I forget to mention? None of those dark hairs grew back!
I did get a few fine hairs but they were thigh standard. Fantastic.
I had my second zap yesterday, my skin was sore for longer (a few hours as opposed to 30 minutes) as the strength was turned up to increase effectiveness. It definitely hurt more this time and I had to grit my teeth so next time will be interesting.
I would definitely recommend Professional Laser:

p.s. Know I want to get everything lasered! I added underarms to my next booking and am trying to get my sister to start her arms so she sees results before her wedding.

Style vs. Comfort
Does a stylish AND comfortable shoe really exist or will I have to choose between crippling myself or looking drab?

Lush
I used to think of Lush as the tiny shop that spewed overpowering fragrance into the arcade which lead from Town Hall station to Pitt Street Mall.
Now, with a few billion beauty/make up videos on YouTube brainwashing me I
The devil on my shoulder has a few points to make...
- Lush products in your room make it smell awwweeesome!
- You have been moisturizing more than usual...you are half way through your third Each Peach (and two's a pear) Massage bar!
- It's better for your skin and for the environment
- This is ridiculously over priced soap
- You don't even use the Lush soap you bought...in fact when you did it gave you that squeaky clean over-dry feeling or you got some sort of skin condition
- Massage bars are FIFTEEN DOLLARS each and only last 3 weeks.
*this post lead to a re-visit of the Lush website and quite possibly a re-kindling of my Lush obsession...d'oh!

Mimco
I dislike Mimco.
Ok, not all Mimco, I don't have a problem with this:
(It's actually quite cute!)
I have a problem with this:
C'mon people, it's a bag with two purses stuck to the front. It's not exactly offensive but it's EVERYWHERE.
When I see people with these bags I automatically assume their thought process went like this:
1. I want bag
2. I want safe option that is sure to win me friends
3. I want Mimco button bag.
Sigh...I'm sure that's not what is happening but how can so many people look at what's out there and decide the button thing is a good way to burn $450, that can't be right!
All the bitching aside, credit must go to Mimco for building a brand capable of convincing people to part with $$$ for a not so pretty, not so unique bag. Bler.
* I used to shop at Mimco...when I was 13 and had an obsession with colourful hair accessories...and when I want to buy a thoughtless gift that I know the person will like because "ooohhh! it's Mimco!"

Hello world!
I have way too may random thoughts floating around in my head.
Kudos to the internet for taking them off my hands.
Expect: commentary on fashion, some beauty and life in general...
